LIFE IN MORROWIND - DAY 1

r/Morrowind - ROLEPLAYING WITH A TWIST - DIARY, DAY 1

I've never been so scared in my entire life. The only thing that keeps me going so far is a small hope that this is all some sort of delusion. Maybe I just lost my mind, maybe this is some kind of a crazy nightmare and I shall soon wake up...

I did wake up already, through. And I am starting to ask myself if everything else had been just a dream. This world seems real enough. Too real in fact...

I am writing this while sitting at a desk in the spacious, poorly lit and strangely decorated hall of the Mages Guild in Balmora, of which I am now an "Associate". This place appears to be friendly and safe enough. Looks like it will be both my home and "office" of sorts for the time to come. I even have a task already - Ajira, herself just an Apprentice in the guild, has asked me to collect some mushrooms for her. She needs them for her alchemy studies, or so she claims.

I had known she would ask for them, though. It all happened just like I knew it would. Ranis, the master of local guild hall, has accepted me in the ranks but told me she has no tasks for someone of such a low rank, directing me to talk to Ajira. And Ajira has asked me to bring her mushrooms.

How, how is any of this happening?

This was a game. This was all just a computer game that I played many years ago. I recognize the names, the places. Everything is the same... and yet entirely different.

I took a Silt Strider to get here from Seyda Neen. I could not even dare to think about going on foot. I remember too well what kind of creatures one meets around here.

The Silt Strider though... to say that it's a terrifying, blood-chilling nightmarish monstrosity would be a gross understatement. And it stinks. And it's also disgusting. And the journey takes HOURS...

Ok, I need to focus. I am writing this to collect my thoughts a bit and calm down, but it's not working out too well. I need to stop jumping from one thing to another. Let me start from the beginning.

I woke up in a dark, damp place, with dirty wooden walls creaking and shaking around me. A funny looking guy with a grey skin and disturbingly red eyes was talking to me: "Wake up, we're here. Why are you shaking? Are you ok? Wake up!"
